I recently found a cool looking 7" Leather Case Mini USB Keyboard that looked like it would fit the Nook Color and i remembered downloading an app called nook color tweaks that had USB host mode in it and i had a micro/mini usb cable already that came with a bluetooth headset:

It was like $15 bucks so I decided to just buy it to give my nook some life while i wait for CM9 Alpha to support netflix (Great work on that btw).
The nook fits nicely but I can't figure out how to make it work. I've been all over forums and I have seen different instructions and they all seem confusing. Some said i just need nook tweaks some said i need a new kernel some said it's already built into CM 7.1. Also, a lot of the things i found in my searches were over a year old.

What do i need to do as of CM 7.1 to get my new "impulse buy" working? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

P.S.  Loving CyanogenMod 7 & 9!

So I figured this out. Here's what I did (Copied from this blog):

  • Purchase this item from eBay: 7″ Leather Case Mini USB Keyboard Stylus for Tablet PC PDA Epad UMPC
  • Purchase a Mini USB female to Micro USB male adapter or cable. Like this one or this one.
  • Put the Nook in the Case and plug the usb keyboard into the adapter and the adapter into the Nook Color.
  • Download and install Nook Color Tweaks from the Android Market or Google Play store
  • Open Nook Color Tweaks, allow any superuser messages you get, and tap “USB Settings”
  • Turn on External VBus and wait for a superuser message.
  • Turn on USB Host Mode and wait for a superuser message.
  • Turn on Caps lock to make sure it’s working.
  • Type!
  • If you find your Nook fits too loosely into the keyboard case just put a rubber band or an elastic hair band over the 3 tabs that hold the tablet in place behind the Nook.

Loved this. Just ordered one. Will be great for overseas travel. I only take the nook with me, not my laptop on vacation. LOve the idea of having the keyboard and small mouse with me. Thanks for the directions and suggestions of where to buy. Saves a lot of research.

Will nook tweaks work on a rooted nook tablet?

I bought one of these a few weeks ago, and love it! Took it on a trip last week instead of my laptop, no more hauling a laptop for me when I travel. The small keyboard takes some getting used to, now I can type about 70% normal speed. Quick and easy to hook up and connect using Nook Tweaks. For the price it's fantastic.

I  have a further suggestion you may want to add to the directions. Do not plug in the mini usb to the nook until after you change the usb settings using Nook Tweets.
