"Roaming" instead of "Edge" on AT&T partner network.

I installed CM7.1 Stable on my wifes Aria a couple of weeks ago.  She hasn't had any issues until we went on vacation.  We have a nationwide plan.  With a "Stock" rom, the area we are vacationioning is "E", but everyting works.  With CM7.1, instead of an E, there is an R and data doesn't work.  I was concerned about turning on data roaming, but I did anyway.  It wouldn't connect.

I have searched the internet for the last 3 days but cannot find a solution.

Can someone help with this?
