Weird one this, no usage of note listed in battery history.  Went from 100% last night (on charge) to 28% (off charger), screen wasn't on or anything.  No apps listed in usage.

Have cleared battery stats this morning, but still same.

Indicator on top of screen insists it's charging, even when its unplugged from electricity supply.

Any ideas, or just a full wipe and see?

Cheers,
Pete

oh ****. Looks like a hardware fault.  wiped phone and no change.

took battery out and put back in, without being plugged into mains

get a battery with swirl on it, as though charging.
Then battery indicator (green) about 50%.

jeezus, wtf happened to it with an update!

When you wiped, did you just do a Factory Reset/Data Wipe, or did you manually wipe the /system partition as well? If not, I would highly recommend doing that. You can find it in the Mounts and Storage menu in recovery. Then just reinstall CM and gapps.

when I plug the s2 into usb on PC it's not being picked up as a USB device.  Either in ICS or CMW, still tending to thing it's the micro usb port itself now and cm9 upgrade just a co-incidence.

what you reckon?

Cheers,
Pete

It very well could be. You could try and restore a factory ROM onto the phone and see if that fixes your problem. If not, then it most likely is a hardware issue.

Wiped area as you said and n

Well went back to stock, no difference. Except now got a battery symbol with a thermometer to bottom right of it.

So went web trawling.

End of the day, some toothpicks and blowing cleared fluff out from the bottom of microusb slot.

Left a few mins, didn't bother with meths on end of cocktail stick.

Put battery back in, no symbol!  Hooks up with PC first time now from CMW as well.

Will try latest ICS back on now.

actually no.  it's still not right.

get CM 9 installed, sync accounts and get apps etc..  All looking good.  Left it copying photos/mps back on and came back screen dead.

Started back up and just goes to grey battery with a swirl on it, then green dots on battery.  Put it in recovery and stock image on it now.

Reckon I'll check if it's still under warranty and get it checked out by t-mobile.

Cheers.

Pete

bah I've got I9100XXKI3 as my ROM on this and thats not right.  KIES says I can't upgrade from this ROM.

Any idea where I could find the proper rom for this UK s2 so I can return it?  Sorry for being such a noob.

Best place to find them would probably be on the xda forums. However, there are a ton of different SII devices. So find yours in the list and then check out the forum for it. They should have factory roms there.

Just to say I put stock rom back on and have returned to Samsung, looks like it was the charger port itself right enough.  Hopefully get it back soon and get back onto cyanogen :)
