Hi

I've a HTC Desire GSM with CM 7.1.0 and I have a Problem with the display settings. When I'm in the settings menu and tap on the "Display" entry the "app" crashes with "Sorry. The application settings (com.android.settings) has stopped unexpectedly...".

So I have no chance to change my display settings :( .

When I have just flashed CM some month ago I haven't had that problems. This stated some weeks later.

So: How can I fix this? Do I have to install all apps, launcher and so on and redo all settings when I reflash CM 7.1.0?

Any other ideas?

The only thing I can think of is to erase all your settings. You should be able to do it with the following command from within the terminal app.

su
rm /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db

And what happens when I erase the settings.db? Th default settings will be build up?

Most of your android settings will be erased/reset to defaults.

I did an update von 7.2.0.1 and I have the same problem. Then I renamed the mentioned settings. db file using the ES File Explorer with root rights. After rebooting the phone most settings are gone. But the Problem is still there.

Then I am not sure what file is causing your issue. Most likely, this will only be solved by performing a Factory Reset/Data Wipe.

Ok. But how do I do a Factory Reset? I did "Settings -> Privacy -> Factory-Reset". then the phone reboots into FASTBOOT. Then I select REBOOT and nothing happens. All data and settings are still there. Where is my mistake?
