For no aparent reason, my nook color quit booting from the SD card. It instantly goes to the 'Read Forever' screen and will boot into the nook OS if I let it. I've taken the SD card out and put it in my computer and it still looks like it has all the files on it (not corrupt, etc). I haven't tried wiping it and starting over for fear I'll have to lose all my program data. I know enough to follow instructions but please keep in mind I actually know very little about what's taking place.
1) Is there something I can try to to keep from starting over and wiping the card?
2) If I have to wipe the card clean and start all over, what can I do to keep my apps, files, etc in tact?
Thanks for your help.

Try to dismount your card you have and reboot into recovery. You can do this by holding in the n button and the power button until your nook color turns all the way off. With your cyanogenMod card out of your nook of course. Make sure your nook turns itself completely off, check that the screen is not so slightly back-lit in a darken room to make sure. It will take a few seconds of holding in that N button and the power button together for it to power all the way off. Keep trying it it doesn't.
When you finally get that nook to power all the way off by the above method then power on your nook again by holding in the power button ONLY. You should then boot back into the stock nook rom. Load the stock nook ROM clear past the lock screen. Then power off your nook again. After that is done you can then remount your cyanogenMod card back into your nook color with the nook off and power back on into cyanogenMod at that point.
You will not lose any programs or data by doing this, it is still on your card. Some minor settings might be lost for your launcher, but you can always reapply those settings.
Never dismount your card from the nook color while running cyanogenMod, even while it is off. Just keep the card in the slot at all times and you will be fine.
Try this and see if this helps you.
