There has been a lot of issues with getting Google Maps working and loaded properly on a CM9 Touchpad. I wanted to share the fix that worked for me as to help others who might be having the same issue.

Google maps was not installed on the latest nightly that I loaded as of 6-4-12, but even before that I couldn't update it when it was installed in earlier builds.
  • The fix for me as to download and install "Maps_mod_620_cleanup_xml" from XDA (Google it and you'll find it) in recovery.
  • Once you have that loaded maps will appear and will function but you will not be able to download the updates and instead get an error message when trying to do so.
  • The fix from there is to use Titanium Backup Pro to make Google Maps a user app instead of a system app and reboot the TP.
  • Go to the market and try to download the update again. At this point it should error out on you and prompt you to uninstall maps. Go ahead and uninstall, then reinstall it via the market.

That should leave you with a fully working version of Maps that you can actually update.

Hope this helps someone, somewhere. :)

KevinM: Could you give some more detail on teh steps you carried out to get Google Maps working? For example, where did you download the zip file to (a PC or onto the TP?) and how did you change the app status of the Google Maps app?

Many thanks

SOLVED!!!! - "Incompatible with other application(s) using the same shared user ID"

I'd given up finding an answer, when I stumbled on this post just checking out the Cyanogenmod forum for anything new.

I've put in the full text of the error above, hoping that it'll let other people find it in the search results.

My steps were similar -

I followed the instructions here to install Google Maps 6.20, including flashing the zip file in recovery.
I then used Titanium Backup to set Google Maps as a "user" app. (It's under the backup/recovery tab, hold down on the app)
I was then able to uninstall it using the Play Store, and then Install it fresh using the Play store.

I now have Maps 6.9.0 installed and am downloading the offline map covering my entire metropolitan area. I'm finally going to get to use my TouchPad for navigation :)

Thanks much OP, for solving a real headache of a problem!

As I was downloading the latest version of Chrome, I noticed that there was an update to Google Maps (v 6.9.0). I downloaded this, and teh Street View add-on, and both now work without problem.

So problem solved.
