I've got a new 16gb Micro SD card. Done a complete transfer from my old one to the new one but when my phone is booted up all the widgets of apps that were stored on my SD card are displaying as the little android bot on a white tab. Also when I go into settings> applications> storage use all the widgets on the left are displayed as greyed out with a small sd card over an android widget. If it's relevant I've got TitaniumBackUp Pro and Rom Manager Premium. Have I done something wrong somewhere. . . . . . If I press any of the android looking widgets nothing happens? Can anyone advise me please?

How did you transfer content from one sd to the other? Did you have an ext partition? Did you have apps that you used the "Move to sd" option that is built into Android?

*****I think I figured out the posting problem. I have replaced the full stop/ period with (dot) as needed below *****
Connected phone to pc via usb, copied removable disk. Swapped sd cards in handset, format sd card. Reconnect phone to pc then paste what I copied to removable disk.
No.
Short answer no. I always move apps to my sd card that are allowed to be moved using the option that is built into CM. Looking at my sd storage now ALL the apps that I tried to copy are listed in a strange way and read like these examples, com(dot)amazon(dot)kindle, com(dot)skype(dot)raider, com(dot)twitter(dot)android, com(dot)ebay(dot)mobile. When I open up my app draw from the home screen they don't show, but they are listed as I noted above.
It's no problem for me to wipe the new sd or do what ever because I still have my old sd intact.

It is because you aren't able to transfer over the .android_secure folder while Android is running. That is where all apps get moved to when you select "Move to sd". Try either putting the card directly into a card reader on the computer or transferring the files through recovery (I think the option to allow the sdcard to be connected through USB is under the Mounts and Storage menu).
Another option is to use a program like Titanium Backup to back up all your apps and then copy over the Titanium Backup folder and then just restore them on the new phone.
Since you are running an N1 and obviously are low on space (since every N1 user is), have you thought about partitioning this new card and trying S2E? It works much better than Android's app2sd and can give you far more space. Do it before you recopy everything over to the sdcard because partitioning will erase it.

I used the S2E before but I was having force close issues on certain things. . . maybe it was the apps themselves. I will try the partition and S2E again and the other advice you have suggested a little later when I have the time. I will report back!

Oh dear it's all gone to wrong!
I created a partition ext on the new sd card, made a new copy of the old sd card to pc by directly connecting the sd card. Swapped the sd cards and pasted onto the new one. I download and installed S2E before that to my handset. Inserted the new card and had the same problem as before, no apps! I tried to sync from Google drive but same problem. I then tried to restore from Titanium Back Up but something went wrong. . . . it was restoring ok until it got to Twitter, at this point I waited 5mins but still at 3%. . . . I waited 10mins but still at 3% :-O. . . . I waited for 15mins and still at 3%. Went back to the home screen and from then on the phone was unresponsive! No reaction from the( working ) power button so I pulled the battery out. After I tried to restart the phone it just hung on the nexus symbol. I took the battery out again and tried to reboot again but this time it got on Cyanogen boot up image. I took the battery out again but this time I booted into recovery and TRIED to restore from previous back ups. . . . . . MD5 mismatch!
What a pain in the arse! So I power off the phone and try a reboot. It does reboot BUT it's like I've just started my phone up for the first time after flashing CyanogenMod. This is the first problem I've had really so I 'aint doing too bad :-D I'm going to start a fresh like before except this time I'm already booted into ClockWorkMod recovery and I'm a little more familiar with it!
Again I will report back! :-/

Oh dear( again )!
I wiped cache, data and factory reset handset. Flashed gapps and CM7. Installed Titanium Buck Up and got pro key. Restored id as prompted from within Titanium Back Up then tried to batch restore apps and data BUT it's stuck again but this time it's the Lock Screen Widget at 8% been like that for 10 mins so far!

I wonder if there was an issue with your previous sdcard so your backups are jacked up. I am not sure the reasons why Titanium Backup would hang. You may want to try and do one at a time and see which ones are causing the hang. Hopefully they are apps that don't have important data that needs to be restored.

I managed to interrupt the lock screen widget by uninstalling it while at Google play store. It then moved onto restoring OneNote. . . . I left it all night while I slept and it is still at 0%! I sent a support email to Titanium B U before I went to bed to see what they will advise so I'll wait for their reply. Maybe it could be because I'm using the latest version of TBU because it does say in the change log that older versions can be found if there are any problems? I think I may just erase all my back up history that I have with TBU and start afresh and re dowload apps manually because I don't have that much important data and that which I do is stored elsewhere.
I'm lost with the S2E settings? Is there a guide somewhere or could you advise me please?

The main things you need to worry about with S2E are which things you want to enable. I typically suggest app, app-private and dalvik cache. I would steer away from putting app data on the sdcard as with our phones, it tends to degrade performance for most users. And the download cache isn't necessary.
And sometimes it is best to start anew. I am doing that with my HTC One X. I've had it for 3 weeks and I haven't transferred anything over from my N1 (minus my ringer and a few notification sounds I like).

I've got S2E set up as advised but it doesn't seem to show the extra space when I go into Applications>storage use is this normal?

It won't show that due to the way Android is designed. You would need to use another app to show you the used space in the ext partition (Titanium Backup will show it).

I found out that ***anium BU displayed the sd par***ion last ***ht when I made a new back up. Also backed up with ClockWorkMod. Had no detailed reply from ***anium support yet but like you suggested could have been the old sd card. No matter now because I'm back on track and all is back to how it was before the glitch but it's just a little newer :-D
Thank you very much for taking the time to help me. . . have a great day!

No problem. I am glad you got it solved (and I sent a message to the Administrator about the swear filter - I think a setting got tweaked).
