I've got the same issue on a samsung Galaxy S i9000 with CM 9 RC2.
When I deactive google's positioning system (wifi's) and activate internal GPS, it doesn't work at all.
did you find any solution?
Thanks in advanced.

Just use WIFI and 3G-Positioning System, works well.
GPS was broken on mine on every ROM. Stock, CM7, CM9, CM10.

I had a low gps signal problem, i fix it with a small piece of plastic to push gentily the contact on the left of the image to make it have a better contact.

The classic and notorious GPS not working on the i9000 series bugged the hell out of me too. I fixed it with some solder as per a guide I cannot find at the moment. I will post the pic of where to solder as the pic above is not correct or necessary for the majority of SGS owners out there.
The trick, as it were, is to fill the leaf spring that contacts the GPS antenna with solder so that it no longer compresses and has a weak contact with the antenna. You need to over bend the spring first and then replace the inner plastic frame to bend it down to "normal" and then tweak it back up just a tiny bit. Fill it with solder and then reassemble. I still use the small piece of tape/paper on the outside of the antenna just to be sure. The soldering work was done with a set of helping hands soldering station and magnifying glass.
Since doing this, I get locks in under 30 seconds in my house, 10-20 seconds outside and even get locks after about a minute when in a commercial building with lots of steel structure. I did all this before moving to CM of any version and I have had no issues on 7.1, 7.2 or 9. The performance has been consistent the whole way through.
