Thank you for the information, but I have attempted to updating my BB to March 2012.
Unfortunately the LG Update Tool crashed in the middle of installation and bricked my phone :(
Thankfully after hours of searching and trying, i managed to unbrick it and was able to recover it back to  7.1
I tried again with LG Tool and even tried KDZ Update with no success.
Am just gonna call it quits and Flash "for_old_bb.zip"

Hopefully in the future it'll be easier to update to the current BB

*Update*
I updated my phone to 7.2 and flashed for the old BB, and it works GREAT! just a little disappointed that I can't change my CPU settings. Other then that loving it!

Hey - I'm a little late to this thread (I had another one going in the experimental forum). I'm in the same boat as Dzombie (assuming he's WIND being from t.o.) - the old June 2011 BB sucks, and getting it updated looks like the solution to a few shortcomings with audio/signal quality. I did spend a whole Saturday a while back trying to do this, but was totally unsuccessful with every method I was able to find by searching piles of threads. Luckily it didn't result in bricking, but still... PS LG Updater won't update, because June 2011 BB is our 'latest' version for ol pokey WIND, just like froyo - gaak - and the KDZ method didn't seem to work because it wasn't recognized as a T-Mobile device (not sure if I got the best instructions on that one).

So, if anyone has encountered a method for updating one's baseband to the latest edition, without using stock, or carrier-screened tools - PLEASE SHARE! (and Dzombie - what exactly did you do? Can you give me a step-by-step or link to instructions?)

Otherwise, 7.2 stable release (but not the nightlies!!) works with my stock BB, so it's not the end of the world.

If you want the latest you would need to do the following

- Flash your phone with an official T-Mobile ROM in order to "trick" the LG update tool
- Use the LG tool to update your phone to the latest T-Mobile version. This is what will update the BB.
- Root and install CWM
- Use CWM to install the ROM you want. You have 2 worthy choices, CM7 or Eaglesblood (based on CM7)

If you use CM7, you will also need to flash "for_old_bb.zip"
If you use Eaglesblood, it has it built in, just read the how-to before installing

Install SetCPU, this should allow you to set profiles and change CPU speeds

I've got a Wind P999, and just a note... it doesn't matter what Rom I flash... Wind Stock, T-Mobile stock, etc. the LG Update tool detects (iirc) V11H as my phone setting, and tells me I've got the latest updates.  It doesn't get fooled just by the rom, it's reading something else to determine whether the phone is up to date.  I've also been completely unsuccessful in updating the baseband in this phone...

Capitol G and mwlcarter,
The instructions RussellM left is the only way to go. I tried it and it does work. The only reason why it failed was that during the installation process the program actually froze. Resulting in bricking my phone. I tried again but the program will just keep crashing. So I abandoned it and awaiting for the ICS update (which I hope is soon). My carrier is Wind so I understand the frustrations.

However if you still wish to try and update you should know that the V21Y_00 update (T-Mobile Android 2.3.4) is not available anymore through the LGMobile Support Tool. You will have to actually get the kdz file.
This link has some more instructions: http://forum.xda-dev...d.php?t=1601918
I hope you have better luck then I had.

My situation is very similar whereas I have no in call sound UNLESS I have my bluetooth headset attached in which case it works fine.  Any of you experiencing this problem try attaching a bluetooth headset?  I also tried the 6/17 build but no luck.

I'm using the 7.2 final, same issue.  Bluetooth works for in call audio, speakerphone and handset has no in call audio in or out.

I don't see how this could be caused by the baseband?  It seems if the radio were the cause, it seems to me that routing audio through a second transceiver ( bluetooth) would not fix the sound problem.

Assuming the cell audio is 'working' (albeit only via Bluetooth), I guessed the problem to be something misdirecting the audio.  I tried disabling the DSP for headset and speaker, and tried using Volume+ to adjust volume out (Volume+ crashed DSP, BTW).

Any other ideas?
