Hello all. Will Cyanogen work on the HTC Evo 3D which was released last week on Virgin Mobile? I know this device has been available through Sprint for awhile, but I wanted to verify it will work on the Virgin Mobile version. Thanks in advance, I'm really looking forward to using this!

I really want to know too! I am surprised no one replied yet. I am getting EVO V 4G from V-Mo anyway, since it's the best phone they have anyways.
I am 90% confident tutorial for EVO 3D CDMA will work, but would love to confirm that.
This is important especially because usage of prepaid cell phones surges this days, as it was mentioned in Arstechnica article "Die, contracts! Prepaid mobile phone use surges".

I am sure it will, But the EVO V came with ICS on it running perfectly and until CM9 is up to par (camera fixed) I dont see a need to put it on just yet.

The current stable build should work, though MMS would probably be broken. It should be simple for a dev to patch up the current rom with Virgin Mobile's SMS/MMS configurations. It would be appriciated.
I'd like to suggest that the team working on CM9 for the HTC Evo 3D consider taking the ICS/Sense ROM from the Virgin Mobile version, and pull assests from it to help them build a working ICS based CM port. The camera and 4G are fully functional and (obviously) able to function with high stability in ICS.
I'm not sure how much progress has been made, but it might be worth looking at Stripping sense out of the VM ROM and patching Sprint's MMS to it for one version, and leaving it be in another.
I'm after CM9 and all it's glory, but would settle for stock ICS. Keeping 3D functionality would be nice, but honestly isn't a must for me. Hopefully a dev will find some of my suggestions useful, and we'll see a Virgin Mobile friendly ICS ROM in the near future.

True! I totally agree about CM9. The reason I am interested now is just to be sure there is a reliable process of rooting V-Mo's EVO. I really really don't want to brick the $300 phone))

'Should work' sounds scary)) I was hoping for 'will definitely work'. Anyway, I think it's a great idea to pull V-Mo's EVO rom to get drivers or whatever. I believe CM team should really consider V-Mo since it's getting really popular due to it's affordable $35 unlimited data plan == more people will switch to it!

No custom ROM will work with virginmobile's Htc Evo V 4G any custom ROM will just boot loop except for Harmonia ROM so far. Or you can root your stock ROM and remove the bloatware apps and put a cyanogenmod theme to give it the cyanogenmod look.
If you do manage to get cyanogenmod to work on Virginmobile's Htc Evo V 4G please message me .

Do not know why you say ONLY custom ROM to work on VM HTC EVO V 4G is Leslie Ann's Harmonia. I normally use custom ROM MeanROM , but just flashed CM9 and Devil Toast to see what is or is not working on that ROM

There is a Beta release right now. There are a lot of problems with the sound system; hence, the Beta and lack of stability+functionality which would allow for a stable release. The 3D camera is also broken. The other issues are listed on the thread linked below.
The sound system problems I constantly encounter include failed headphone detection (the sound sometimes just starts to come out of the speaker), which is consistent immediately after booting and random during regular use. There is random sound distortion and music player instability, too. I think a quick temporary fix for the headphone problem would be to just have a manual switch in the notifications area for toggling between headphones or speakers as the default output. I'm sure it's a known bug by now since it has occurred on previous releases. If I was able to, I would implement a toggle switch as a quick fix to allow us to map to a button combination like VolumeUP+VolumeDown = Toggle Headphones-Only/Speaker-Only/Mute-All-Output. Even better, I would also add the option to just completely remove the damn speaker functionality all together. I have no use for it, whatsoever. I would LOVE to be able to completely disable speaker functionality before flashing the ROM, but I am still learning about these embedded distributions. I don't see why it's neither of these are options after this many years, especially when a bug like this one reoccurs and these options have been built into open sound systems for a very long time. With or without the bugs, the speaker is utterly useless to someone like me, and I am not the only person who feels this way. I always use ear buds or headphones.
The default Music app and 3rd party music players crash. Upon booting/reboot, the music player must crash at least once, and the headphones must be plugged in or re-plugged in at least once in order for the headphones to remain detected (most of the time). I think all of the issues are all related, but I have no idea if it's a kernel problem or the actual sound system in the OS because I have no experience with the software. I have also been experiencing random distortion during calls/music, random muting of my microphone, and nothing seems to correct these problems other than accessing an available option to disable/re-enable the functionality of the Microphone or Headphones (like mute Microphone, switch to speaker phone, etc.).
Aside from the sound problems, everything is working pretty smoothly. The UI is lightning-fast and stable with specified clock frequencies ranging from 192 MHz - 1,188 MHz The battery life improves substantially over stock.

Be patient with the bugs if the problems I have listed above occur for you. I hope someone fixes it soon.
