Hello everybody,
I received the update message for 7.2 this morning via ROM Manager and instantly chose to update (I want the new dialer, HTC style contact selection, yummy).

So the update itself went fine, I wiped the dalvik cache and updated through ROM Manager as usual. My phone booted fine, but then I realized, that there is no sound and no WLAN at all. Is there something wrong with the way I installed the update? Do I have to fully wipe my phone to get the new version up and running?

I hope someone can help me out here. Thanks in advance.

- Eddie

I too had no wifi, on my Incredible S. It just said 'wifi error'.
Restored to 7.1.

Hopefully it won't come to wiping the device (it is not supposed to be necessary).

Try formatting the /system partition from within recovery (under the Mounts and Storage menu) and then reinstall CM and gapps. This won't cause any data loss and makes sure the issue wasn't due to a corrupted system file. This won't cause any data loss.

Also, verify the md5 has of your install file before you do this.

Hi.

It's not a file system problem.
It's Radio Version problem.

Check: System Setting -> About Phone -> Baseband version.

With my old Baseband version: 12.56.60.25U_26.10.04.03_M - wifi was not working after upgrade.
After I've upgraded to 12.62.60.27U_26.13.04.19_M everything works like a charm.

All best.

Is this an european radio version? I never got that version officially from OTA for my european Desire Z.

- OK guys I got it now: it is not a radio problem!

I did my unlock with HTCdev method, so I have S-ON and unlocked a few partitions. The thing is, that CWM is unable to flash the boot.img into the boot partition. The wifi and sound errors I encountered are  kernel version mismatch problems!

So what do you have to do to get it fixed?
First of all you have to extract the boot.img from the CM-7.2 zip file, so you can flash this manually. Then follow this guide:

  • the phone should be in bootloader ( fastboot usb )
  • Put boot.img inside adb folder in same place your fastboot.exe
  • Start cmd as administrator and navigate to ADB Folder which includes fastboot.exe and type the command fastboot flash boot boot.img and press enter
  • type the command fastboot reboot and press enter

This was extracted from this thread: http://forum.xda-dev...d.php?t=1469428

I can now confirm that this solved my problems entirely, so there is no wifi/sound bug in CM-7.2.

Thanks for this fine release, and I hope this thread helps others that came via the HTCDev unlock method.
