Alright, I had an HTC Hero and had that rooted and was using CM ROM, but I revently got an EVO and wanted the CM ROM again, so I did a bit of research, rooted the EVO with unrevoked3 method (found at xda) and then downloaded CM6 to flash onto my EVO. Boot into recovery, wipe, and try to flash but every time I flash I get Status 7 error, installation aborted. I became frustrated and downloaded ROM Manager and downloaded CM6 through the manager and tried to flash that way with the same error. Please help me I can't figure out why I can't flash my favorite ROM!

I do have the same problem. I found some info on how to fix the problem but it also there is a lot of Evos on loop. I also create an ext 2 partition with rom manager and I have the same result. Thanks

So I just need to reapply recovery and hboot? I originally used this guideto root my EVO, and the root worked fine up until flashing CM6. What about the xda guide would cause the recovery and hboot to be wrong? I'm using ClockworkMod recovery btw.

It looks too risky. Like I said in the last post. I prefer to wait for another option.

I'm using clockworkmod too. What make me not doing its the hboot loop that some users report, I know that you have to update the pri and something else, but no clear for me.

It actually has nothing to do with the recovery, its the hboot in combination with the radio. When you update to 2.2 froyo stock while rooted you are upgrading the hboot to 00.79.000, CM requires the engineering hboot which is 00.76.200. Follow the link I posted with what I did to get CM6 installed and working and you shouldn't have any issues.

I don't know beskurrd I'm sure that later someone will come up with an easy way.  Right now I'm trading a post about applying a kernel only. Just for a star in this mod world...

I don't think it will make a difference. clockworkmod recovery has pretty much the same options that ra's does (from the brief period I used CWM) so as long as you know where the options are to wipe and flash zips you should be fine.

Another question, I have a backup using android on clockworkmod. If I downgrade the hboot u think in a worst scenario can I do I restore with the new version on hboot.
