Hi all,
Quick post for others perhaps running into this issue.

I had a weird issue with my Desire w/ Cyanogenmod 7.x on the Dutch T-Mobile/BenNL network (APN is internet dot ben)

Description: - GPRS (G) and HSDPA (H) modes work flawlessly, but UMTS (3G) doesn't. Weirdness: The device reports to have a data connection (upper right data connection indicator shows 3G, but no data is exchanged.

Here's how I got the UMTS 3G mode to work:
  • In the phone app dial *#*#4636#*#*
  • Select 'phone settings'
  • Scroll down, select 'WCDMA preferred' in the pull-down menu for 'preferred network type'
3G should exchange data now.

Still have trouble? Try a reboot, check if the setting is still set to 'WCDMA preferred'.

Enjoy, RD

I'm having a simlar, if not the same, issue with my Nexus One - CyanogenMod 7.2.0 passion - Baseband 32.41.00.32U_5.08.00.04

It says it has great (3G) signal, but as soon as data is sent/received it drops down to (H) - (and these are areas where I used to always have great 3G connectivity) I followed the method you via dialing *#*#4636#*#* and double checking my settings, but no go. And this seems to be the only thread I could find so far that relates the closest to my issues. Any advice would great, thanks!

fyi: I'm a bit new to the hole game, but I got a lot of practice & knowledge over the weekend when I totally revamped (rooted, and changed recovery, hboot, radio & rom) on my HTC G1 over the weekend. After I watched my buddy do my Nexus One.

NVM lol - stupid me; just needed to Google "H network on tmobile nexus" and found more info on what I'm seeing - http://www.nexusonef...s-h-symbol.html

(without much knowledge on all of the different wireless networks out there, I was thinking 'H' (hsdpa) was a 2G-like network or somethin... live n learn!)
