Cyanogen Mod Versus Outlook Synch

Hi

I have a VillainROM (Android 2.1) on my HTC Hero and would like something newer.
The Cyanogen seems very good, nut will I be able to connect/synchonize my Outlook contacts and calendar as I do today using the HTC Synch tool?
And what tool would I need to do that?
