Backup Rom Question

Lets say:

1- I have stock ROM instaled with basic apps (rooted, CWR, Titanium, etc.)
2- I back up my ROM before flashing CM7.2
3- Now I have CM7.2 installed

If I want to get my phone into its original state (step one), do I need to reflash with stock ROM and then restore the backup from step ? or it can be done from CM7.2?
