Not sure if this is the best forum for this comment, but is anyone still experiencing intermittent reboots/blank screens on 6.0.2 with WiFi enabled?  I still get about one instance every 24 hours of uptime if the WiFi is enabled.  Even so, this is the first time I've elected to RUN day-to-day with the CyanogenMod ROM.  For the most part, 3G is fast enough in my area that it's not a huge deal.

I haven't conducted experiments to verify it was the Wi-fi and to isolate factors, but I was experiencing about 1-2 shutdown/freezeups a day when I left the WiFi on 100% of the time (usually it hard froze at work while inside a building without wifi for a few hours). Since I've turned off Locale (probably not related), turned off Wi-Fi when I'm not at my house, turned off Wi-Fi at night, and replaced the Email.apk (probably not related)...I haven't had a single freeze or crash. It's just as stable as stock for me now (I don't use BT).

I too am having the problem with the email fc.  I installed root explorer and when I tried to uninstall the email.apk it says it is read only?  Can someone direct me as to how to remove the read only so I can delete it? New to Cyanogen and custom roms.

If you look at the attachment and read the first line it states 218MBused..blah blah..then r/o (that means you are in read/only format...

click on the button that says, Mount R/W. This changes to read/write, allowing you to delete it. Screen shot is from Root Explorer. Let me know if you need more help!

That email.apk fixed the FC issues for me as well. Thank you.

When I deleted it in Rootexplorer, I rebooted and all of the apps that I deleted were still there? Why would they not delete?

I'm having the same problem.  Also tried deleting it through Titanium backup and it returned on reboot.  Deleting through ADB might be the only solution

I wiped and reflashed and am able to delete things now.

Works great, thanks! It seems that the original Email.apk was causing my phone inexplicable reboots as well - even boot loops. How does something like that make it into a stable release?

So is there going to be a 6.0.3?  Anyone have ETA?  I really like the 6.0.2 ROM but I can't run it because I need email to work.  I tried all the fixes above for fixing the email.  I used root explorer, removed the email.apk file, installed the new one that is in this thread.  No matter what I do, my email force closes the second I try to sync with my work exchange server.  I would be very interested in this ROM for Incredible where email works.

Thanks,

hey, seanbales, I can coach you through the steps over gtalk if you want..or just delete the email.apk and then use download k9 mail..it does exchange. And I think its a better app, quite frankly.  You can also check out the nightly builds..From what I'm hearing, they are actually pretty stable.

Thank you for your response.  I finally figured it out.  I had to use adb shell to delete the email.apk file.  No matter what, even with the FS mounted R/W in root explorer, the email.apk would reappear after reboot.  Once I got it deleted via ADB, I was able to install the new file.  Email works now.

I am experiencing some instability.  The phone is occasionally rebooting and shutting off spontaneously.

I haven't looked too closely at the settings. You shouldn't have to, but to be safe I would, then restore apps with Titanium. It only adds, at the most, 30 minutes to the setup, and eliminates that as a cause for potential problems.

those running 6.0.2. Email.apk is definitely a culprit. Either delete it from system/app using Root Explorer or adb, and then reinstall this email app or dont- just delete the original! :) .  This fix has stopped all of my random reboots. I'm also finding that setCPU could also aid in the reboots. For now I have disabled screen off, and just kept the CPU clocked at 998Mhz.

Thanks very much, it works!
