Flash From Recovery:
Gallery Switch Installer (06/02/2010)
Attached File  GallerySwitchv3.zip   985.81K   1315 downloads

This should address the problem with dual gallery installing incorrectly.
Also this is the new multi-touch swipe-to-navigate Gallery from 5.0.8
Please let me know if it is still working in 5.0.7 with MT and swipe.

After flashing you will have five new commands in terminal:

gallery3d
gallery2d
galleryx2
galleryx2rm
galleryrm

gallery3d/2d will overwrite current gallery with the one specified

galleryx2 will install both galleries on your device (you will need to give gallery permission when it asks if you have picasa web albums to sync)

galleryx2rm will uninstall dual gallery (reverting to 2d)

galleryrm will remove all traces of the files and scripts used (like it never happened)

Gallery3D.apk was modified just to add a different icon and name (thanks h3g3m0n) (for differentiation when going dual)

noob question the terminal you are talking about is the terminal emulator in the launcher right or is there another terminal you are talking about. if so please explain i have flashed the switcher and tried the command gallery3d in the terminal emulator and i get

$gallery3d
mount: permission denied (are you root?)
mount: permission denied (are you root?)
Installing Gallery3d...
cp: can't create '/system/app/Gallery.apk': File exists
Done.
Reboot to Finish Installation: (Y)es (N)o ®ecovery - Y
reboot returned
$

Do I have to use gallery3d before using galleryx2? Because I tried using galleryx2 two times now, rebooted after the last and can't find it. The only difference is that my photo widget gets broken everytime.

Anyone run into this issue yet? I'm running mt3g 32b, 5.0.7 w/ jit, swap(96mb/30swappy), and 3d gallery. These features are all enabled via stevo's scripts. If I let my phone sleep while the gallery is open phone becomes unresponsive, need to pull battery and reboot. I will try it with jit and swap disabled...

Yes. Install 3D first, reboot(?), install x2. Not sure if you need to reboot but I did it anyway. Cheers.

This is my modified version of Gallery 3D from before, its just a separate .apk that should install as normal but with a different App name "Gallery 3D" so you can tell the difference.

It should work fine if just installed along side the normal 2D gallery on the D/S version (although might run into some problems if you have installed another 3D gallery, if you do just uninstall them first).

The one I posted is easy to differentiate due to the icon change, but whatever. The more the merrier.

actually if you wouldn't mind, i think i'll take the apk you provided, just replace the icon, and use that one in the switcher i do like the name difference in the app drawer.

Will this work for 5.0.8test2 because of the kernel?
