so, i had an earlier version of 3d gallery running in 5.0.7 before... the .apk version. it was fantastic. no problems whatsoever. as soon as i upgraded to 5.0.8 d/s my 3d gallery started acting funny... super slow response, invisible thumbnails (looks like no pictures in the gallery, but you can click on them... weird). i've tried reflashing the rom, tried uninstalling and reinstalling the .apk for the gallery, tried flashing the switcher update, turned off swap, turned on swap, compcache, fix_permissions, just about everything i can think of besides restoring my 5.0.7 install. any ideas from anyone? nobody having the same problem?

Ive definitely seen those empty thumbnails, check for .tmp diskcache files on your sd card and nuke them, try clearing media storage then running the media scanner in dev tools. I noticed I had to pm uninstall several instances of the gallery after playing around with too many apks. Try pm list packages in adb or terminal and see if cooliris is in there more than once and pm uninstall if you see t them.
My gallery seems to behave as expected now.
I also had to manually delete gallery data in data/data as well.
Fixed permissions?

Yes. Install 3D first, reboot(?), install x2. Not sure if you need to reboot but I did it anyway. Cheers.
Great Post! It works like a charm. I installed 3d first, then right afterward i installed x2, then rebooted. No need to reboot in between (just as an update.)
Thanx again!

thanks for all the advice, in the midst of trying to do a backup, i corrupted my sd, had to reformat and start from scratch, and since i didn't have a working BART i just went ahead and wiped my phone. everything works as expected now! imagine that...

Even with galleryx2 the original gallery is missing. No big deal, but though I should mention it. The 3D one is installed.

The GallerySwitch v3 works with CM6 (at least on my Hero). The Gallery3D works really good. Nice!

Any way to get the Camera review button (the thumbnail of the last photo you took) to load the 2D Gallery, instead of the 3D one like it did before?
EDIT: Hey, Stevo, I noticed in the scripts that you have a remove command for Gallery.apk, but the default gallery in CM is Gallery3D.apk. The terminal commands kinda didn't work right until I changed the scripts. Maybe you could add a line for that?
Also, the script to remove the dual galleries and revert to the 2D gallery just fails for me. Not sure why, even though I changed the line for the 3D apk.
