Why would you need contacts from your sim?? Aren't the contacts synced with google's servers???

They are not readable by Android. The only way to do this is to use wi-fi and sync from your sim to googles servers. I work for T-Mo so please take a listen. If that does not work then you need a different sim. $25 in store. You should be able to do it then. But in most cases the format in which they are written to the physical SIM do not match the process in which Android reads. I've seen some where only like 10 of 200 contacts show up. Its very touch and go. Other option is visit our corporate store and have them swapped in store.

I hope this helps.

me too.

i previously imported contacts just fine from the same phone (a v. basic nokia) when the my G1 had the standard factory firmware installed.

perhaps this is a bug?

EDIT: Found a workaround here

http://forum.xda-dev...ad.php?t=771469

All you have to do is enable Aeroplane mode, disable it again and then try importing contacts

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU
I was all ready to downgrade my Dream to 5.0.8 to sync with google etc and your workaround works.

THIS SHOULD BE STICKY'D SOMEWHERE. Theres alot of people with the same issue and this is the easiest fastest thing that works. Thank you again.
