Ill know more once I get it reflashed (Trying to work AND android is difficult some days lol)

So far no good, at least yet. I flash via odin and it keeps going back to recovery with an error.

"e:cant mount /dev/block/stl10 (Invalid Arguement)
e:copy_dbdata_media:Cant Mount DBDATA: Copy default media content failed."

Mixed reviews, some say yes some say no

Its a safe package, just looks like you may have to odin stock if you have changed the stock package and then odin to this one.

(When flashing this package, do not select repartition)

I'm going to give it a whirl, but there are a couple of things I'm not clear on. Will this prevent me from getting into Clockwork Mod recovery or will I need to flash that again? Can I re-root using the same method or rooting I used before (The update.zip we had on launch day)?

No, clockwork works but will need reflashed.

youll have to reroot.

Im not 100% clear on what went wrong with mine, im missing DBDATA directory so im fixing that sideways from the filesystem, but there is a second flash file posted over on XDA you might try. Everyone says it works, I think just make sure you dont select "Repartition" in odin

Everything just went fine for me using the files posted in this XDA thread: http://forum.xda-dev...ad.php?t=780935

Also, I re-rooted quickly by downloading the One Click Lag Fix app from the market and using its root tool (I did not apply the lag fix). It'll copy the update.zip to your SD card, then you reboot into recovery and choose "update packages." I believe it's the same update.zip we've had since before the US launch.

[Edit: Also, no luck on any GPS improvement. Either Samsung didn't include the fix or it's a hardware problem.]

Just flashed it, rooted, and did the lag-fix. got 2291 quadrant score. so far so good.

Apparently it's suppose to look like 2.2 Froyo, but i'm not seeing it. Now Froyo widgets either...

There are some issues with a lot of market apps not showing up. I suspect there's something wonky with the build.prop file that's not reporting the correct version or properties for the device.

Yeah this was a waste of time.

Eugene confirmed that you cannot use his UI mods to remove TouchWiz crap
Still 2.1
No noticeable speed improvements even with lagfix
Nothing of value gained
GPS still doesn't seem any better

My opinion is don't waste you time but your results may vary.

If youre going to use this ROM, ODIN to the base ROM repartition, then dont repartition over it with the new one. Im working on trying to get back to download mode, but this may be a brick.

I had some trouble this evening getting into download mode with a soft brick, too. My problem was simple, though.

Do Vol+/Vol- and power up. Keep the power button held in until it reboots again. When the screen goes black, let go of power, but keep holding down Vol+/Vol-. I was making it way too complicated. I was stuck with the "Phone <!> Computer" screen for about half an hour.

Good luck.

There is a new version of swype which someone was nice enough to repackage.

New version of Swype is awesome. Includes voice input and seems to be a bit more accurate for me.

Not saying you or Eugene are wrong, but I flashed this firmware last night and now my gps work perfectly. I tried every other "fix" that has been posted here and on xda and could never get more than 2 satellites locked in ever. Now I have 13 in view consistently and 6-7 locked at all times with my accuracy at 15-20 feet. Maybe it's just me but my GPS is usable now whereas before it was completely broken.

I apparently have a hardware locked version and the buttons dont do anything. If I could get it into download mode id be done and flashed, but it wont go there.

adb reboot download
I can probably create a quickboot app that will give you the option to reboot into recovery and download mode.
