Thanks for the info. I've actually wanted something like this for a long time. I actually prefer the Sense UI slider better, but this works. :)

If you want a replacement lockscreen you can download an app called widgetlocker ($2). It's fantastic you get a choice of sliders including Froyo, Sense even an iPh*ne one if that's your thing. It might seem a bit steep having to pay a couple of bucks for an alternative lockscreen but you can also put widgets on your lockscreen and even put up up to 4 sliders. Recommend this for people who don't want to mod and just download an app. However you also have to download an app called nolock so you can get rid of the original lockscreen.

P.S. I have no affiliation whatsoever to the developer of the apps above, i just really like em. ;-)

Substitute lock apps stay resident in memory and take up more resources. An actual replacement lock screen just replaces the existing lock screen.

For performance mongers like myself I tried the app replacements available and removed them the same day.

Funny you say that cause that exact thing happened to me today. I downloaded and tried widgetlock for about an hour today, wasn't hugely impressed, saw that it was using an extra bit of memory (being a performance monger myself), and decided to return it, haha.

I've wanted to do this since I got my phone, so I'm excited.  However, I'm also a little apprehensive.  I followed the links until I found the full instructions:
http://forum.xda-dev...ad.php?t=779803
and they look quite daunting someone who just figured out adb (aka me).  Can anyone speak to the difficulty of this mod?

Personally I didn't see the purpose of a lock screen with the vibrant because the power button is nearly impossible to accidently hit in my pocket.  So i used the app called No Lock

Its incredibly simple, just finished, took longer to boot then to do the actual installation.

I do all my ADB pushes with Android Commander, so it was just drag, drop, reboot, done.

I have Root Explorer, so I just did the whole thing on my phone without ADB or even connecting it to my computer at all.
