Many sdcards are formatted as ExFAT, which is a licensed format from Microsoft. Since CM is opensource, it can't legally include support for ExFAT without paying Microsoft for a license. You should just be able to reformat it in recovery and it should work fine.

Hi, I have the same issue on my SIII i9300
After installing any mod cm-10.1-XXX.zip (android 4.2.2) I couldnĀ“t mount my ext sd card sdhc 64GB but it works fine on my other S3 i9300 with official android 4.1.2
Neither I could reformat it in recovery mode. When I try to format this from android interface it doesn't work either.

Do you know what the problem may be??
Thanks!

Under the Mounts and Storage menu.

But if that doesn't work, you may need to do it directly in Windows (I have no experience with Samsung smartphones).

Unless you can enable USB Mass Storage mode on the phone in windows (which I don't know if it will work since it can't recognize the filesystem), I don't know how else to do it without physically plugging the card into the computer.

Do you not have the ability to format it under the Mounts and Storage menu in recovery?

Hello,

I habe trouble using my SD-Card on my Galaxy S3.

I Updated from 10.1 to 10.2, installed gapps, did a full wipe/reset and I've formated my SD-Card FAT32. The Card is visible and connected to the device but it is not possible to use it as storage. It is possible to browse the filesystem to the SD-Card but it is not possible to move app to it.

Before I updated to 10.2 everything works.

Is there anything I can do to fix this problem?

You can't move apps to the sdcard with 10.2 (pretty sure you couldn't do it with 10.1 too since Google removed the ability to do so with Android 4.2, but maybe your device maintainer did some magic to get it supported).

And the Camera and Focal apps do not currently have support to save to the external sdcard.

You will lose any data stored on the sdcard, but all your apps and settings should stay intact.

hmmm, Ok but now there is no way to access my SD-Card as " SD-Card". the only way is with the Filemanager und browsing to the filesystem. Before 10.2 i had access through a shortcut like extSDCARD (ore someting similar)

AOSP has nothing in it to handle external sdcards. Everything Touchwiz does that allows you to select an external card has to be manually coded into Android. The same thing happens with CyanogenMod. When they switch to a new version, all old features need to be ported to the new OS, and sometimes this can take a lot of time. Especially if they weren't happy with how things were on the last version (like with all the Advanced Settings for various devices). If you need normal access to the sdcard, it would probably be better to downgrade to 10.1. Otherwise, you can stick with the nightlies, but expect things to occasionally break or not act as you expect. Hopefully things will get resolved quickly, but CM never provides ETAs.

I have this problem too my T999 can not any longer read any External SD unless I install another File Manager from the Play Store.

Can anyone solve and fix this?

Well I find the reason, We need to "surf" via ROOT MODE on defaulk File Maganer and look for storage dir.

But is pretty unlike this way I hope they fix this in some more easy way to do it.

I hope I am writing this to right place.
I installed cm-10.2.0-i9300 last night but I can't move my apps to sd card.
I read that google canceled it but when it was 4.3 -not modded- I had that option when I rooted.
So is there any way to make it happen ?
