Tried traditional uninstall (not there).
Tried uninstalling via Linda File Manager (instead, it forces me to install new package to fail)
Any suggestions?

I also had to remount the system partition as read/write before doing this.
I can't remember the command to do it on the phone but using ADB it's as simple as:
adb remount

Yep, you'll have to mount /system as RW to delete anything from it:
mount -o rw,remount /system
(and back to RO):
mount -o ro,remount /system
