Have you installed Gapps? Try that if you want the market...

Where can I get Gapps? I Googled it and found something here http://www.google.com/apps/
But this seems to be business or educational account for Google apps.
What is the link for this Gapps program that will enable me to get Android Marketplace running on my Desire?
Many thanks

First way (approved):
1)° Download gapps (Google Apps) from the link above, you should get a zip file
2)° Place this archive on your sdcard (root, directory or whatever)
3)° Reboot in recovery mode (power off button: reboot > recovery)
4)° Choose "apply zip from sdcard" or something like that
5)° Reboot system from your recovery
6)° done
Second way (not tested yet) :
1)° Open RomManager (installed by default)
2)° Download and install gapps from there
3)° It should automatically reboot in recovery and apply the update
Android Market is a part of google applications, so in order to get it you must first install gapps

So try this D/L the appropriate Gapps, I used this one ‘Gapps-hdpi-20101114-signed.zip’ (but I can’t remember from where I got it)
Section copied from a post by ‘Bambi’ (thanks)
1)° Download gapps (Google Apps), you should get a zip file
2)° Place this archive on your sdcard (root, directory or whatever)
3)° Reboot in recovery mode (power off button: reboot > recovery) Or I run it from file manger
4)° Choose "apply zip from sdcard" or something like that
5)° Reboot system from your recovery
Next
Section copied from a post by ‘Ollieeee’ (thanks mate)
*. Opened the folder "system" (if you don't see it listed: press the "home" icon in the top left)
*. Within this folder, opened the folder "app"
*. Opened Vending.apk to install it <= This is the Market App.
*. Got an error message saying that the installation failed
*. Re-opened Vending.apk to install it
*. This time the installation worked. (apparently you either have to try to install it multiple times, or it only works some of the times. What worked for me was just to keep trying until it installed).
Presto. Market installed.
If the installed program will not run you can also try to go to menu=>applications=>manage applications, select the Market App (it will be listed under the tab "All") and erase the App data.
Then do a reboot, and if you are as lucky as I was, not only did I get my Marketplace back but various other utilities and Apps where updated and repaired as well.
Good luck.

You might want to get a newer gapps installation. Go here.
Found it after searching gapps in Google, 5th result. Enjoy!

I followed the instructions to install the gapps and now my phone keeps repeating a cycle or the cyanogenmod logo and then the android setup process and then back again.
Nothing I've done has helped.

if it doesn't work, clear the data again and do a fresh install of the cyanogenmod and immediately after the install is finished - install gapps.
i think that by doing it this way, you will loose your installed apps and settings, but i don't know a better way.
