Hi guys i have the tmobile mytouch 3g and i am paying 7bucks for insurance every month. I just thought of reporting it like i lost it to make money out of it and get a new phone has anyone tried doing this?

They won't just give you a free phone if you do that. If it breaks under warranty it is free, but if you use the insurance plan (lost phone, stolen, car ran over it, ect) you have to pay a deductable, just like car insurance. And if I'm not mistaken, the deductable on a nice smartphone is around 200 bucks. I'm pretty sure that's what it is on the g1 according to the guy I asked at tmobile when I got it. They do that so people don't just say they lost their phone so they can get a new one. Sucks, but is there to cover their asses. If you want a new phone with out paying deductable prices, try ebay or craigslist. And... they won't give you a better phone, something comaparable or the same phone.
