So, a lot of people use Tapatalk. Also, you may have seen the official XDA App for Android.

Now, here is a question for everyone of the forum users. If there was an OFFICIAL CyanogenMod Forum App, that was similar to Tapatalk / XDA App ...... would you download it?

There are huge licence fees for me to consider, however I'm always for making this place a better place for you guys.

What do you think?

I am new to the android scene and  I would pay for it.l donate to p2p sites all the time everyone must understand that there is a lot of work involved in maintaining a website such as this.we all enjoy the fruits of someone else's labor you could be modding a xbox360,ps3,Wii,or a cell phone either way someone(not u) sat down at a computer(long hours) and GAVE us all the info to do the same.

I'm torn, I started with the xda app, and it was ok but then the force closing started. Since it was a single forum tapatalk, I decided to grab tapatalk since I was seeing it used for posts on all the forums I was visiting.

That said, if it's there I will likely download it and check it out, but ultimately I don't think I'd keep it as everything I need is already in tapatalk.

I would prefer to see donated money used for mirrors, and other website updates, rather than reinventing the wheel, so to speak. :)

I would not download it whether free or paid. I would download a donation app to donate though.

Can you elaborate on what these license fees are?

Are you proposing that the CyanogenMod admins purchase some third party library or application, and this third party component would be used for the Official CM Forum App, so you are asking whether users would pay a fee to recoup the cost?

Or are you saying that since the CM Forum is powered by IP.Board, providing an alternative interface to it (via an Android app) would incur licensing fees from Invision Power (the makers of IP.Board), no matter how such an app is written or what third party libraries it does or does not use?

Or are you just talking about reimbursing developers for their hard work?

Great idea, wouldn't pay for it. I DO donate to the CM roms, however forums, and their apps, should be free.

I personally use Tapatalk, so it'd have to be better than that.

I would recommend perhaps giving the app free to donators and make others pay for it.

I can't see the advantage of having an app. A mobile-friendly version is easier to roll out and debug, IMHO.

For financial support, I'd prefer some ads as well as a donation channel. :)

I don't really see the advantage of having an app specifically for the forum, the xda one is exactly like tapatalk as far as I could tell, but only allowed me to view that forum. I think enabling tapatalk on these forums is a no-brainer, and maybe a mobile-friendly version.

I've found that I can't use the Tapatalk app if I sign in, only if I stayed signed out. This is not true for other forums.

I have tapatalk, and would prefer being able to read all my forums in one app, instead of having to download a branded instance of tapatalk for each forum I read.  I've already seen this with Droidforums.net it seems like.

If you do go down the branded app method, please leave the forum accessible to Tapatalk.

OK, so i'm fairly new to the whole thing... but im not sure what the purpose of the app would be.  can't i already see the forums from the phone with the browser? and wouldnt making an app and keeping an app current redirect some of the focus that goes into the ROMs for which cyanogen is famous?  I LOVE cyanogen ROMs.  Just keep those coming.  i was SO chomping at the bit for the new nightlies to make it to RC stage. i would like some sort of email sign up list or something that would notify subscribers of new releases, so i wouldnt have to check the site all the time hoping for releases.

my humble opinion. and like i say, i might not even fully understand what the advantage of the app would be. maybe im way out in left field.

I would pay for it. My droid would not be the same without CM. I would prefer an app as sometimes the browser closes all my tabs and I lose my place when in the forums.

With rom manager this already happens. The premium version tells you when there is an update available (a new nightly)

This has only woked for me twice in the last month.  Usually when I go into nightlies it is 3 or 4 behind what is available.
