@Truster, that's right.
Screen ON animation is known to cause problems. I do use screen OFF animation and have no issues.
Bump up the lower CPU frequency one step above 245MHz and I believe all wake problems will go away.

Nevertheless, that's off topic in this thread.
Right now, we are waiting for logs and kernel messages.

Hi there,

Reverting back to whatever ROM works may be a solution.
Only, I'm afraid that won't help, because chances are it's something you did, that's making problems. I mean, I have the same Desire Z and 7.1 runs perfectly, with almost no performance tweaks.

If you are still looking to solve your problem, then people around here need to see what goes on in the background, so...

1. Get the log please.
2. In case of crashes (freezes&reboots), get the file /proc/last_kmsg

Both of these requirements are clearly stated in the ROM release thread, just in case you were wondering why you aren't getting any answers. ;)

For those that are saying you did a "super clean" install, please elaborate and show me your partitions when you super-cleanse it.
I need to see:

/system
/data
/cache
/sdcard/.android-secure
/sdcard/Android

To me, "super clean" means these partitions are blank before flashing.

Best regards,
S.
